Multi Fuel Meter Reading
ServiceNet Meter Read is a complete meter data collection application, which can be quickly and easily set up to reflect the requirements of your meter reading organization.

The system runs on ServiceNet server running Workpack Manager, together with an integrated Resource Optimizer. Ruggedized PDAs are used in the field, and the product is already proven to integrate easily with the different back-end systems in a modern, mobile utility meter-reading operation. With ServiceNet, both gas and electricity meters can be read from a single application on the PDA.

Workpack Manager
Compiles and stores cyclic and scheduled appointment read requests supplied by the multiple gas, electricity, or water systems requesting read data.

Resource Optimizer
Analyses the assembled read requests, and prepares optimized workpacks for the meter readers, using such criteria as priority of the read request, jeopardy, reader skill-set, working hours, etc. Workpack Manager then delivers completed workpacks, over a GPRS wireless connection, automatically, on a fully-managed basis, to field staff, without user intervention.

The reading application is customized using ServiceNet Composer and deployed on a semi-rugged GPRS-enabled PDA. Meter Readers can organize their workpacks to suit their local, on-the-ground knowledge. Read requests are organized by location, and users can drill-down, sort, or search to display all the information relevant to the specific read request at hand.

Collected read data is returned in batches, via GPRS, periodically, to Workpack Manager on ServiceNet server.

Meter Operations
The other aspect of running a meter reading operation is the need to maintain large numbers of different types of meters. Meter Operations - the process of inspecting and replacing electricity and gas meters - is a proven ServiceNet application, used by customers like NIE, EDF, and nPower.

Unified Applications
All meter operations field staff will require meter reading on their PDA, for final reads and meter switches. Some ServiceNet customers have recognized the benefit of deploying and maintaining one unified application for all field staff - covering both meter ops and reading - on PDAs in the field. Having a standard application build like this will cut maintenance effort and reduce total cost of ownership over the life of the project.
